Goo Goo Dolls
After their relatively unsuccessful beginnings as a Replacements-style punk band, the Goo Goo Dolls came to prominence in the heyday of inoffensive adult-alternative rock. But it was the chart-topping “Iris” from the City Of Angels soundtrack that secured the group’s post-’90s placement in big venues and on blandly pleasant radio playlists. Finally released in late 2010, Something For The Rest Of Us wasn’t meant to be a four-years-in-the-making affair, but the album’s release was delayed repeatedly while the band honed the material. The disc is more of the same, something that should sit well with the Dolls’ ever-devoted fan base.
