Artist Gordon Gano And The Ryan Brothers
How many other bands have made acoustic music half as anxious and squirmy as Gordon Gano's Violent Femmes? The answer is, of course, “none,” and it’s partly for that reason that the Femmes came to follow in line behind Gang Of Four and Talking Heads as a major influential reference point for the 2000s. Frontman Gano has always wielded a bratty, nasal voice, but he's ranged quite a bit further into everything from nervy funk to tuneful country in his solo work—including his recent album Under The Sun.
