Grinderman
Hot, bothered, and sleazy as hell, Nick Cave and Grinderman are built for filth. With its first, self-titled record, Grinderman was thoroughly entrenched in skuzz city, especially on tracks like the buzzing “No Pussy Blues.” Now, back withGrinderman 2, the band’s reigned in its dirty old man style just a bit, finding a nice blend between psych rock and stoner rock, while insane multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis (also of Dirty Three) rips it up on the bouzouki. With singles like “Heathen Child” and “Worm Tamer,” it’s clear that Grinderman is just doing whatever the heck it wants, and damn the rest of the industry – and that’s totally fine. No real Nick Cave fan would want it any other way.
