Artist Gringo Star

Though the bouncy, polished pop-rock of Gringo Star sounds like the stuff of major-label dreams, the Atlanta quartet with the punning name to end all punning names put out its own full-length debut, 2008’s All Y’all. The decidedly bright album was slickly produced by Gnarls Barkley engineer Ben H. Allen, with layers of garage jangle over a Kinks and Britpop backbone. The band might still be slugging it out in the indie-rock trenches, but it’s already the subject of a documentary—Hurry Up & Wait, which chronicles Gringo Star’s European and U.K. tour—and released its follow-up, Count Yer Lucky Stars, in the fall of 2011.
