Gucci Mane

Gucci Mane

Even by modern rap’s standards of conspicuous production, Gucci Mane floods the market: The Atlanta rapper has dropped more than 30 mix-tapes since 2007, despite numerous legal problems and two bouts of jail time. Now a free man, Gucci found time between tapes to record his second major-label album, 2010’s The Appeal: Georgia’s Most Wanted. The lead single, the Swizz Beats-produced “Gucci Time” (not to be confused with the old Schoolly D jam), is a decent introduction to Gucci’s style, with its slurred flow and absurdist lyrics like “Colder than a polar bear sleeping in a freezer / She wish she never met me, wanna catch amnesia / Gucci Mane crazy, I might pull up on a zebra.” An independent album, The Return Of Mr. Zone 6, was released in 2011.
