Hacienda
Letting the sunshine in on Austin’s predominantly paranoid psychedelic revival, Hacienda combines airy Beach Boys harmonies and a swinging R&B stomp for one of the most authentic throwbacks in a town full of them. The band blew the mind of The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, who helped produce its full-length debut, 14 tracks of rec-room rave-ups and pop pearls for ponytailed girls titled Loud Is The Night. Following some time on the road as part of Auerbach’s solo backing band, The Fast Five, the Hacienda boys returned to studio for 2010’s Big Red And Barbacoa. Another Auerbach production, the band’s second full-length digs deeper into shuffling grooves and sweltering sock-hop swagger.
