Hanalei
Songwriter Brian Moss moved his post-punk band, The Ghost, from the East Bay to Chicago around the turn of the millennium, but it was his side project, Hanalei, that saw the most action. The group began with Moss on acoustic guitar and electronic flourishes from a sampler, but evolved into a roots-rock band for 2006’s excellent Parts And Accessories. Not long after that album came out, Moss ended Hanalei and returned to the Bay Area, where he revisited the angular, noisy post-punk of The Ghost with his new, unfortunately named band, Olehole. He has since revived Hanalei back to its stripped-down roots and has in the works.
