Every year, (hed) P.e. seems to spelunk a little deeper into the cavernous asshole of music, thanks in part to its association with Insane Clown Posse. This can be traced all the way back to Jive Records’ futile attempt to market the SoCal outfit by packaging a sampler of its album with copies of ICP’s Riddlebox. The band’s now out behind its latest, Truth Rising. Not that much has changed: (hed) P.e. continues to brainlessly balance misogynistic lyrics with Fisher-Price political statements, going as far as adding 9/11 Truther swill to the mix this time. Plus, in possibly another nod to ICP, Gomes has been wearing face paint.
