A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Henry Rollins

  • henry rollins

Those who grew up listening to Damaged probably never imagined that Henry Rollins would one day turn into a no-necked David Brenner, but at this point, Rollins has spent more time working the spoken-word circuit than he spent in Black Flag. He uses his stand-up spiels to temper his rage with humor, and since he appears here on Independence Day, that undoubtedly means he’ll also offer a little Thomas Paine-like Common Sense—with an emphasis on the pain, you know, because he’s all ripped and mean and stuff.
