Hercules And Love Affair

Some of the songs on Hercules And Love Affair's beloved debut album feature spectral singing by Antony Hegarty (of the Johnsons fame), but the enterprise answers more fully to Andrew Butler, a New York producer who caught the disco-dusted ears of James Murphy and his DFA label with a sound as big and as full as those made back in the heyday of Paradise Garage. Horns, strings, and warm basslines all figure into a sound that is as musical as it is dancey, and the Hercules live show tends to be a suitably kinetic affair.
