Despite earlier forecasts to the contrary, tween-oriented pop-punk has yet to die out. As if to reiterate the logic-defying endurance of the genre, Florida quintet Hey Monday just released Beneath It All, the successful follow-up to 2008’s Hold On Tight. The former Fall Out Boy openers may be a slight improvement from Pete Wentz and co.’s artificial angst, but the band’s unoriginal emo sound is just one world-weary sigh away from a teen movie soundtrack.
