The stints in and out of rehab, misplacing Kurt Cobain’s ashes, selling his image to Guitar Hero, losing custody of their daughter—sometimes it’s easy to forget that Courtney Love is famous for more than just fucking up. She hopes to change that with the long-in-the-making Nobody’s Daughter, accompanied by her first U.S. shows in 10 years as Hole. Early singles “Samantha” and “Skinny Little Bitch,” which recalled Hole's Live Through This heyday, suggested she might just pull it off. But the rest of the record found Love grasping for a perspective and promise she's long since lost.
