Hollerado
With its wild record packaging (like 2010’s Record In A Bag, which packaged the album in plastic baggie with a handful of confetti) and offbeat track titles like “Dragon, Dragon, Tiger, Goat” and “Do The Doot Da Doot Do,” this Ontario outfit has had little trouble distinguishing itself. Even amongst the swells of CBC Radio 3-approved Canadian indie acts, Hollerado sticks out. Playing an honest, high-energy strain of power pop that shares more with the catchiness of Supergrass than the show-offy noxiousness of a band like OK Go, Hollerado’s sing-along choruses and mesmeric riffs netted the band a Juno nomination for Best New Group in 2011, certifying (for some) its place in Canada’s indie rock pantheon.
