Holly Golightly And The Brokeoffs

Yes, her namesake is a character in a Truman Capote novel, and yes, she sang a duet with The White Stripes on Elephant. But there’s a lot more to Holly Golightly than those two overexposed facts, stretching back to the early ’90s and the all-girl garage outfit Thee Headcoatees. Also ignored by those career bullet points: Her four albums with longtime collaborator Lawyer Dave (as Holly Golightly And The Brokeoffs), the most recent of which, No Help Coming, finds them producing catchy, hook-laden tracks that lend nicely to Golightly’s usual mix of dollar-bin sultriness. Golightly continues to pen witty country tunes that harken back to the beginning of her solo career, leading the songstress to recently admit to a kind of stubbornness in her musical approach: “I’m proud to say that I don’t think there’s been much development at all, really.”
