Artist Hot Tuna

Hot Tuna founding members Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen—original members of Jefferson Airplane who started Hot Tuna as a side project that eventually became their main focus—tend to get together every year for a few shows. After producing several albums between 1969 and 1979, Casady and Kaukonen each parlayed their early successes into lengthy careers outside the spotlight, teaming up as Hot Tuna periodically whenever they can coordinate breaks in their individual work. In 2011, the band released Steady As She Goes, its first new studio album in two decades. The record has a little bit of everything, including the Americana stomper “Angel Of Darkness,” and the sweetly nostalgic “Mourning Interrupted,” which looks back on Casady and Kaukonen’s roots in ’50s Washington, D.C.
