Huey Lewis And The News
Huey Lewis’ music is indelibly linked to 1985, when Back To The Future came out and Lewis’ bazillion-selling Sports had just finished yielding generically guy-friendly pop-rock hits. From 1986’s “Hip To Be Square” on, it’s been downhill for Lewis and his band, though the group will always have enough name recognition to fill the seats at any county fair or casino. The 2001 album Plan B was Lewis’ first CD of new material in 10 years, and though it was a reasonable facsimile of The News circa ’85, it didn’t do much to account for a world that’s moved on. At least Lewis has a sense of humor about his overwhelming ’80s-ness, as his theme song for 2008’s Pineapple Express attests.
