In A World...
Improv shows run on the same fuel, for the most part: dubious audience suggestions. There’s no show without a drunk audience member demanding freewheeling jesters act out a scene on the moon as Peter Griffin. The performers in “In A World...” take this plot device and limit the drunkards’ involvement to one suggestion. Once the best of the best is selected from the crowd, the comedians structure the idea around late announcer Don LaFontaine’s trope, “In a world....” It’s a unique approach, but also limiting. Watch as the performers shuffle to take a simple concept and stretch it out to a night of hilarity. Either they succeed or flop, which means audiences either laugh or sharpen their wit by heckling. In other words, it’s win-win.
