Indigo Girls indigo girls

It’s been ages since Amy Ray and Emily Saliers made names for themselves as the Indigo Girls, but the ever-tuneful folkies stand now as lesbian icons with a good bit of grizzle left. They both showed up on a 2006 shit-stirring song by Pink called “Dear Mr. President,” and the rasp on Ray’s voice has only grown more compelling with time. Indigo Girls continue to play politically minded folk-rock songs on 2006’s especially accessible Despite Our Differences and on Poseidon And The Bitter Bug, a 2009 double-disc set that marked the group’s first move into self-released status. The duo’s latest effort is a collection of new songs, Beauty Queen Sister, which dropped at the beginning of this month.
