Artist Infected Mushroom

  • Infected Mushroom

Born in the Israeli port city of Haifa, but inspired by drug-friendly hippie haven Goa, India, Infected Mushroom makes electronic music that’s half-desert, half-tropical, and all trance. Breaking into the top 10 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list in 2008—which hasn’t seen a new name since time immemorial—signifies that the group has officially been knighted in techno terms. Erez Eisen and Amit Duvdevani moved to L.A. and have churned out genre-mixing material, including hip-hop collaborations on 2007’s Vicious Delicious. The group’s latest, Legend Of The Black Shawarma, makes a curious detour into proggy metal, and also delves halfway into concept with the first few tracks themed around the duo’s favorite eateries. This summer saw the act release “Pink Nightmares,” the lead single off a promised 2012 album, and this fall found the guys getting press for defending dubstep, saying other music bores them.
