Jandek

For those who’ve even heard of him, the mystery of Jandek means at least as much as his music: The reclusive Texan has quietly released more than 30 albums of spooky strangeness over 25 years, refusing interviews and generally shunning those who’d like a closer look. His music, all warbly half-singing and out-of-tune guitar, spills over with strangely compelling despair, even as it’s sometimes impossible to listen to. He only began performing live in the past few years—to the shock of followers—though his shows are few and far between.
