Jane's Addiction
For a band that’s just made three records and has broken up and gotten back together twice, Jane’s Addiction has enjoyed a surprising amount of staying power. Perhaps it’s scary Perry Farrell’s involvement with Lollapalooza or Dave Navarro’s brief marriage to and reality show with Carmen Electra, but the group has managed to stay culturally relevant for more than 25 years. In late 2011, the band released The Great Escape Artist, a record that’s been in the works for years and features TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek playing bass on most of the tracks. The record’s first single, “End To The Lies,” is equal parts throbbing and electronic, which, when combined with Farrell’s squeaky vocals, results in the aural equivalent of a bad mushroom trip.
