Artist Japanther

  • japanther

New York band Japanther celebrates the sort of scuzzy, shambolic, industrial-strength rock beloved by neo-no-wave acts who use youthful energy to overcome (or celebrate) the limitations of Radio Shack-quality gear. The band has released an impressive number of records since starting out in 2001, but live shows make for much more in the way of fury. Japanther’s sets are often brief—35 minutes or so—but they pummel and scream for all they’re worth. It’s a sweet, cheap thrill that’s probably not any good for you—unlike the titular meal of the duo’s latest album, Beets, Limes, And Rice.
