Jeff Tweedy

Too often, the frontman of a band strips its music bare for solo shows to find that his deep, enigmatic poetry is actually bland and soporific without a wicked guitar solo behind it. Not so with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, who possesses the charm and gravitas to command a stage by his lonesome. The Chicago resident’s mellow solo gigs tend to stay informal, often leading to humorous slip-ups or in-song dialogue with the audience—a nice complement to his feature band’s formidable, kinetic live shows. Expect Tweedy to touch on several albums in the Wilco catalogue, including 2009’s Wilco (The Album), as well as a couple of Uncle Tupelo or Golden Smog tracks for alt-country purists.
