Jim Norton has a mouth for radio—satellite radio, that is, where the Opie And Anthony Show co-host’s foul-mouthed observations and blue-streaked celebrity commentary can fly free from the purview of the FCC. A “regular guy” comedian for “regular guys” who sneered at the politeness of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Norton’s stand-up gleefully pokes at the hot-button topics of contemporary American life: Race, religion, politics, sexuality—if you can name it, there’s a clip on YouTube of Norton applying his gravelly, unapologetic voice to it. Despite the shaky self-esteem alluded to in many of his routines, Norton has developed a sharp, confident stage presence—he’d have to, given some of the celebs he’s surely pissed off.
