Blessed with a name tailor-made for Vegas marquees, Austin’s Jimmie Roulette has long been a favorite on the Texas comedy scene, regularly making warming up big names like Wanda Sykes and Dave Chappelle—and, uh, Larry The Cable Guy, but we won’t hold that against him. Roulette takes a playful tack to his fast-paced humor, specializing in the everyday silliness of suburbia. Eschewing politics, pop culture, and (somewhat surprisingly for a black comedian) race for more universal subjects like vegetarianism, relationships, and riffs on animals, his comedy is safe for even the most uptight of corporate gigs. But that doesn’t mean Roulette is predictable: Take his surreal suggestion for the perfect conversation-ending, why-I’m-late-to-work excuse: “Rabbits!”
