HOLIDAY SALE AT THE ONION STORE

Artist Joe Jack Talcum

  • Joe Jack Talcum

Joe Jack Talcum (né Joe Genaro) founded seminal folk-punks The Dead Milkmen as a home-recording act, and even as he and the band became college radio's favorite wiseasses, Talcum would still take time alone to commit his softer—though no less sophomoric—side to cassette. Throughout the Milkmen's demise (and recent resurrection) and his participation in acts like The Low Budgets and No! Go! Tell!, Talcum has maintained a steady solo-recording regimen, shading his "Methodist Coloring Book" between the lines of Jonathan Richman's youthful naïveté and Daniel Johnston's skewed, nasally warblings.
