Joe King Carrasco

Appearing at the zenith of punk, Joe “King” Carrasco took a hyperactive strain of Devo’s spazz-rock and married it to a fledgling germ of Tex-Mex rock ’n’ roll. The result was an intense run of nutso live performances and studio records that made Carrasco and his band The Crowns the patron saints of Gulf Coast beach bacchanalia, as best expressed on their smash single, “Party Weekend.” Nearly 30 years later, Carrasco and the reunited original lineup have a new album, Que Wow, and support it with a limited, mostly regional run of shows.
