Plenty of stand-ups are convinced society is currently engaged in a long, dumb trudge toward the world portrayed in Idiocracy, but few modern comics register their discontent about it as loudly as Joe Rogan. Of course, Rogan-hosted fare like the recently resurrected Fear Factor is only a few steps removed from Ow! My Balls, so maybe all this Sam Kinison-style screaming and fretting about being out-bred by the dumb is merely a corrective. Off the comedy club stage, Rogan has transitioned into roles as a podcaster, mixed martial arts expert, and frequent guest on The Alex Jones Show—three perfect avenues to vent his outrage. He’ll be playing himself in 2012’s Here Comes The Boom, a film starring Kevin James as an ill-prepared MMA fighter.
