Much to the chagrin of '90s music fans everywhere, the boy-band phase's demise merely telegraphed the eventual resurrection of its pioneers. The New Kids On The Block are far from kids—their youngest member, Joey McIntyre, is creeping close to 40. But if Justin Timberlake can emerge from 'N Sync unscathed and likable to even his biggest detractors thanks to Saturday Night Live and other choice guest spots, why not McIntyre? Although a NKOTB reunion last year sent many a fan rushing back from early onset menopause from the group's breakup in 1994, McIntyre's solo excursions on record and on Broadway have failed to launch the same kind of fervor his band did, but nonetheless, the Massachusetts-born former teen idol is still in it to win it.
