Artist John Primer

Chicago blues guitarist John Primer played in a lot of bands around that city and fronted one of his own before being recruited to back up such greats as Willie Dixon and Muddy Waters. His solo albums are praised for helping to keep some life in the genre, brash enough for the city but maintaining a strong feel for its (and his own) Southern origins. He’s still fun to see live, too, thanks to his terse and snappy guitar leads and a repertoire that’s as good as a blues history lesson.
