John Witherspoon

Best known for the role of Ice Cube’s pig’s feet-eating dad Willie Jones in the film series Friday, John Witherspoon has made a career out of being an obscene and loud-mouthed authority figure. First appearing on the groundbreaking Richard Pryor Show in 1977, the Detroit native has perfected roles from father to reverend to pimp with his signature jerk moves and fat bottom-lipped growl. Witherspoon’s lengthy career also includes work on Good Times, WKRP In Cincinnati, Martin, and the voice of Granddad on The Boondocks, as well as his own 2008 stand-up comedy release You’ve Got To Coordinate.
