Jon Ginoli

Being gay and out in San Francisco is about as revolutionary as opening a frozen-yogurt place, but being those things in a touring punk-rock band in the early ’90s certainly qualified as groundbreaking. As the leader of pioneering queercore act Pansy Division, Jon Ginoli has seen quite a bit over the past two decades—including an arena full of unsuspecting Green Day fans being introduced to songs like “Curvature” and “The Cocksucker Club”—and he chronicled all of those adventures in his book Deflowered: My Life In Pansy Division.
