Jonny Lang

Jonny Lang

Once the gangly teenage guitar shredder behind bland, radio-friendly blues like “Lie To Me,” Jonny Lang has inevitably grown up and passed the point of anyone being astounded by his formidable yet fairly routine six-string wizardry. Releasing albums since he was 15 years old, Lang has always made up for any lack in authenticity with admirably hard work and impeccable playing. Although his boilerplate caterwauling lacks originality, his sound on last year's Live At The Ryman reflects the career of a man whose understanding of the blues has grown with age, born out of the trials facing a white kid from North Dakota who's trying to be taken seriously in the genre long after his "child prodigy" stage has passed.
