Easy-listening superstar Josh Groban is an insanely divisive figure for someone whose music is so aggressively milquetoast. Yes, he’s an icon of unremitting cheese, but he’s also one of the one of the few artists keeping the recording industry afloat. (Of course, if you’re in the anti-Groban camp, that’s not much of a selling point.) And the guy does have a sense of humor about what he does, as evidenced by his spells lending toothy melodrama to Kanye West tweets on Jimmy Kimmel Live and covering the work of Casey And His Brother for Tim And Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! Besides, his 2010 album, Illuminations, introduced your mom to the work of Rick Rubin. Maybe after this show, she’d like to try some Slayer.
