Josh Mease
His album may be called Wilderness, but Brooklyn songwriter Josh Mease sings from a very cozy (and familiar) place: a hushed bedroom adorned with lots of comfy throw pillows and wall-to-wall Beatles posters. Mease’s soft-focused ballads tend to blur together like shifting watercolors, built on gently strummed guitars, choirboy harmonies, and subtle hints of glockenspiel and piano, conjuring a sound that’s more about pleasant textures than memorable melodies. Still, his light-handed touch and classicist’s ear for effortless pop construction make him one to watch.
