Josh Rouse

A crafty singer-songwriter who knows his way around a hook, Josh Rouse writes openhearted pop that plays to the heartland while straying every so often. Albums like Dressed Up Like Nebraska andNashville generally slot as alt-country, but Rouse’s sunny melodies and smooth, ’70s-styled airs are something of his own. His 2006 album, Subtítulo, signaled his move to Spain, and his globetrotting tendencies have continued, including on a new album called El Turista, which includes Brazilian songs sung in Spanish and Rouse's own version of "Cotton Eye Joe."
