As singer-songwriter Joshua Radin soldiers on and refines his craft, his work seems to be settling onto a mellow plain where the conversation is friendly and engaging, but not likely to provoke any strong reactions. It’s fitting, then, that his 2010 album, The Rock And The Tide, finds Radin singing so much “starting over.” The music on the record follows suit, with the more typical bedroom strummers pushed to the end of the tracklist in favor of louder, electrified tracks like “Here We Go” and “Road To Ride On.” The record is still too soft-spoken as a whole to call it “risk-taking,” but at least it shows Radin isn’t content to simply soundtrack prime-time dramas for the rest of his career.
