A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Julie Doiron

Julie Doiron cut her teeth with Canadian band Eric’s Trip, but her solo material—which has been coming at a steady clip for 13 years—has been far gentler, exploring quiet themes like motherhood and melancholy. Her latest, the just-released I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day, adds more rollicking flavor, probably due to production by her former Eric’s Trip bandmate Rick White. The disc almost goes one-for-one: One bout of mellow introspection gives way to slightly angry guitars. The constant: Doiron’s emotive voice and terrific songs.
