Steven Spielberg’s 1993 marvel Jurassic Park helped make the technology behind blockbuster films as important as the actual thrills. As for thrills, they come by way of genetically re-created dinosaurs, people stuck on an island with them, mayhem, Jeff Goldblum acting wacky, killer animatronics and computer animation, John Williams’ sweeping score, and those ever-clever velociraptors. Filmed just before Spielberg went on to make Schindler’s List, it’s still the wildest and most overwhelming of his summertime box-office stompers.
