Kenny Loggins
Kenny Loggins became a star as one of the doobie-smoking doofuses in Loggins And Messina, but most card-carrying members of Generations X and Y know him from his extensive ’80s soundtrack work: Simply put, if a producer wanted a hit song to help sell a flashy, craptastic extravaganza, he had the Logmeister on speed dial. Loggins’ pop career didn’t survive the age of irony in popular culture—just five years after Top Gun, it was impossible to take a song like “Danger Zone” seriously. Now 64 years old, Loggins is all right (don’t nobody worry about him), still playing the hits and reaching out to even younger audiences: His latest CD is a children’s album, 2009’s All Join In.
