Singer-songwriter Kid Dakota (a.k.a. Darren Jackson) has really got this pop song thing down. We’re rounding out a decade since Kid Dakota released debut EP So Pretty, which garnered the attention of Low’s Alan Sparhawk, who offered to release So Pretty on his Chairkickers’ Union label. Kid Dakota’s fourth album, Listen To The Crows As They Take Flight, was released in October 2011. It’s a relatable album—at times sad, at times drunk—that’s lyrically spot on and a good showing of Jackson’s lyrical prowess, providing surefire proof of Kid Dakota’s solid pop sensibilities.
