Any band with a name like Kitty Rhombus and a jabbering vocalist would have a head start in the sticking-out department. But the local group stays noteworthy because it continues to grow more intense and full-sounding. After putting out a couple of home-recorded CDs, the band finally buckled down for a proper full-length, 2010’s Lips And Arms, which corrals a mix of old and new songs into a chaotic but somehow coherent sequence. Regardless of how much more polish the new songs are, they still induce cases of the shakes in even those already accustomed to Kitty Rhombus' geeky cross-wiring of Jesus Lizard abrasion and unexpectedly hip-twisting rhythms.
