A.V. Club: Best of the Decade

Artist Kitty Rhombus

  • Kitty Rhombus

Any band with a name like Kitty Rhombus and a jabbering vocalist would have a head start in the sticking-out department. But the local group stays noteworthy because it keeps getting more intense and full-sounding. Its new tracks it'll might induce a fresh case of the shakes in even those already used to Kitty Rhombus' geeky cross-wiring of Jesus Lizard abrasion and unexpectedly hip-twisting rhythms. Feedback and dissonant guitar chords create some real atmosphere behind the spazz-out on "Paroxysm," and the lurching, metallic "Bliss And Blisters" summons quite a goblin-choir of wretchedly weird vocals.
