In bandleader James Falzone’s Chicago based quartet KLANG, his influences of jazz, chamber, and world music come together to create the mood of a Twin Peaks dream sequence. KLANG’s sound is west-coast cool jazz via Jimmy Giuffre with Charles Ives whispering in the background. The classic pairing of clarinet and vibes set to capricious arrangements make for a style that’s at once tried-and-true and off-kilter. This show at the Sugar Maple catches the group near the end of a tour in support of its debut album, Tea Music.
