Coming up in the same Kansas City scene as fellow horrorcore rapper Tech N9ne, dark crooner Krizz Kaliko has provided demented and drippy hooks for many of Tech’s releases over the last decade. With his self-described “funkra” style—a blend of rock, rap, soul, and opera—Kaliko comes off as a spookier version of Cee-Lo with a built-in fan base from Juggalo country. Kaliko’s solo releases, 2008’s Vitiligo, 2009’s Genius, and 2010’s Shock Treatment, feature guest appearances by Twiztid, rapper E-40, and, of course, Tech N9ne.
