Kyuss Lives!
Over the course of four albums, from 1991’s Wretchto 1995’s …And The Circus Leaves Town, Kyuss typified the stoner-rock genre by ramping up the fuzzy, cranked tones of other doom-metal Sabbath acolytes like Pentagram and Electric Wizard. Kyuss may have faded into obscure cult status had two of its founders—guitarist Josh Homme and growling bassist Nick Oliveri—not seen mainstream success with Queens Of The Stone Age. Oliveri was famously kicked out of QOTSA after Songs For The Deaf, but he’s recently reunited with original Kyuss singer John Garcia and drummer Brant Bjork, dubbed Kyuss Lives! Oliveri was arrested this summer on drug and firearm charges and faces up to 15 years in prison, so catch this band while you can.
