Ladyhawk
Masturbating, marijuana, beer, horses, and Neil Young—all things that interest the Vancouver-based rock band Ladyhawk. The band described its last full-length, 2008’s Shots, as, “like a party for the last house standing in a sea of strip malls and condos.” Music for the modern landscape, it seems, and likely what’s connected Ladyhawk to audiences across Canada’s meagre metropolises and their outlying suburbs. Members of Ladyhawk have been wrapped up in various side projects (like Baptists and Drumheller) over the past couple years, so catching them has come to seem like an increasingly rare treat.
