On the list of necessary credentials for a troubadour, landing a song on the Shrek Forever After soundtrack must rank damn near the bottom. But Landon Pigg’s lightly frosted Saturday morning cereal-take on guitar pop can only stand to benefit from the association—seeing as it’s just a bit too polished for the crowd he’s trying to attract with his ’60s British Invasion wardrobe—making it perfect for a stay-at-home mom or dad’s afternoon glass-of-wine break. When Pigg steps up the tempo and builds on the arrangments, like on propulsive rocker “Take A Chance” off last year’s The Boy Who Never, his faint whisp of a voice is balanced out by the addition of drums and bass.
