Letters To Cleo

letters to cleo

A bright-and-shiny beacon in the otherwise dour days of post-Cobain “scrunge,” Boston’s Letters To Cleo briefly became an alt-rock staple thanks to the pep-rallying, syllable-twisting single “Here And Now” (prominently featured on Melrose Place) and the spunky charms of comely singer Kay Hanley. Like so many Buzz Bin also-rans, LTC faded fast at the turn of the millennium, with Hanley pursuing a semi-successful solo career and apparently fulfilling her deal with the devil by performing as Miley Cyrus’ backup singer—which may explain why she’s so anxious to reform her breakout band. (That, or the rising tides of ’90s nostalgia.)
