Lightning Bolt
Lightning Bolt made a name for itself in Providence, Rhode Island’s noise scene, competing with bands like Black Dice to see who could summon the most forbidding squalls of sound. Black Dice moved out to Brooklyn and started working in a more ambient milieu, but Lightning Bolt—whose members met at the Rhode Island School Of Design, and began as a trio before dropping down to two—stayed in Providence, from where the band continues to release hypnotic, brain-melting nuggets. De-tuned guitars rumble and squeal, vocals claw their way out of sheets of fuzz, and drums never ever relent. Two years on from its last document of sonic assault, Earthly Delights, the band is set to finish recording the follow-up after its current tour.
