Artist Locksley

  • Locksley

A few Madison-bred youngsters formed Locksley before moving off to New York and getting their spin on the hype wheel with their bouncy ’60s-styled pop. While Locksley’s 2006 album, Don’t Make Me Wait, may not have been very original, it’s easy to understand why it attracted the notice of industry types, especially considering the band’s infectiously tight live sets. That attention eventually led—which seems to be the case more and more these days—to heavy commercial licensing, and tracks from Don’t Make Me Wait made the rounds from television to movies to video games. The new, self-titled album keeps the commercial appeal coming—most will easily recognize the “oh, oh, oh” chorus of “The Whip” by now—but it also continues to deliver up-tempo fun at a furious rate.
